Mrs. Monica Granados

It is a genuine pleasure to lead and collaborate with the Riverside Community at Natha Howell Elementary. Being a former Early Childhood teacher, a Literacy coach, and a current Administrator, I have great respect for this profession and believe that education improves people's quality of life by fostering innovative enterprises and inspirational leaders. I graduated from Texas Wesleyan University with a B.S. in Science and an M.Ed. in Elementary Education with a focus on leadership and PK–12 administration. My own individual learning experiences throughout my life and later at Wesleyan had a significant impact on my interests in research and education.

I realized early on a desire to follow a profession interacting with children and didn't think twice.  It is my philosophy that every child can learn and develop their strengths through instructional experiences.  Children develop into real scholars when presented with engaging instruction and challenging pedagogical practices.

A strong team and a clear vision are required for this; it cannot be accomplished alone. I consider it a pleasure to collaborate with a team that is committed and recognizes the favorable impact they have on our community. I have no doubt that, especially at the Elementary level, our focused effort and obvious dedication to providing high-quality education will have a significant impact on future graduates and their life decisions.

ROAR Success Criteria: Each day at Natha Howell, I hope that all teachers come prepared with a sense of urgency and a set of high expectations for all students. I also hope that all students come prepared to meet and exceed those high expectations and enjoy their learning experiences along the way each day.

Biography- I have a passion for coaching and supporting teachers at all levels with all content areas. I tend to look forward to each new day, week, month, and school year to jumpstart the task of supporting teachers to support student growth. I am committed to this work because I believe that the effort and diligence that goes into creating consistency and engagement with student learning is worth it. The journey that teachers and students go on to discover, understand, practice, and persevere with new challenges is hard work, but I know that our students are worth it, and our team is up for the challenge.

When I’m not here at Natha Howell supporting our staff and students, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our kids and dogs, doing home improvement projects, cooking, reading, and gardening. Gardening might be my favorite thing to do with my family; I look forward to the time every winter when we can spread seeds and plant bulbs in our flower beds, and every spring when we get to see it all come to life.
